Case studies

Some of our recent projects

What was specified, what the subfloor needed first, and what the job was worth. The preparation is the half nobody photographs and the half that decides whether a floor lasts.

1 Portland Place

Marylebone, London · for Datum CCM · Over £100,000

A full commercial fit-out across every floor, and the job the professional photographs were taken on.

  • Karndean LVT
  • Desso carpet tile
  • Modulyss LVT
  • Solid brass trims throughout
  • Over eight tonnes of latex

Eight tonnes of latex is the part nobody sees and the reason the finish is flat. Every floor was levelled before a single plank went down.

Opus Biological

London · Over £30,000

Herringbone through the offices, cap and cove where the building regulations asked for it.

  • Latex preparation throughout
  • Herringbone commercial sheet
  • Cap and cove to meet building regs
  • Karndean LVT to the halls

Cap and cove is a vinyl floor carried up the wall as one piece, so there is no joint at the skirting for anything to get into. It is a regulation in some rooms and a good idea in most.

A nursery on the Howard de Walden estate

London · for Datum CCM · Around £30,000

A building full of small children, so every joint and every wet area had to be right.

  • Full latex preparation
  • Cap and cove vinyl
  • Custom shaping around the wet areas
  • Polyflor and Forbo
  • Mat wells installed

Custom shaping around wet areas means the vinyl is cut and welded to the fittings rather than trimmed near them. In a nursery that is the difference between a floor you can mop and a floor that fails.

68 Chandos Street

Covent Garden, London · Around £60,000

Starting shortly. Three hundred square metres of wood, carpet tile, and a communal staircase in carpet with brass nosings.

  • 300 m² of wood
  • Carpet tile
  • Full communal staircase in carpet
  • Brass nosings

A communal staircase is the hardest carpet job there is. Every tread is a separate cut and the whole flight has to read as one run.
