The story
How the business started
Guild Floors is James Gillett's company. James has fitted floors for 23 years, from a one-man band to a team trusted with 300+ commercial projects and the kind of homes where every detail gets noticed. Across the team there are decades of experience on every job.
Everyone has called him Gill for years. And the old guilds were the mark of a craftsman, the sign that the work was done by someone who had earned the right to do it. Put those two things together and the new name was not really a choice. It was already there.
The name change
Why JG Floors became Guild Floors
If you knew us as JG Floors, nothing about the work has changed. Same team, same fitters, same phone number, same fixed quotations, same floors fitted like they matter.
The 47 reviews on Checkatrade were left for JG Floors. They were left for the same people who will turn up at your door.

Our standards
Three things we do not compromise on
We are rarely the cheapest quote you will get. We are the one whose fitting outlasts the manufacturer's warranty.
- The quote is the quote
The price we agree is the price you pay. If the scope changes, we talk first, before anything moves.
- Preparation before beauty
We would rather lose a job than skip the subfloor. It is why our floors stay flat and quiet, and it is the first thing a cheap quote leaves out.
- Straight answers
If a cheaper floor is the right floor, we will tell you. If we are not right for the job, we will tell you that too.
Community work
Work we do for free
Guild Floors gives time and labour to the communities we work in, at no charge. Recent commitments include school rooms refurbished alongside our main contractor.
In September, James rides London to Brighton for a charity chosen in memory of a customer whose home we helped make ready for her final weeks.
